It’s been a minute since my last post, but moving your family across the country, switching jobs, and finding a place to live does wonders at squishing whatever margins you have to do things like fish. I miss the Truckee already, but she is in just awful shape right now, and selfishly I’m glad I don’t have to watch the destruction happen slowly over the next few months.
The media has obviously taken notice and jumped on the story that we have no water in the west. Can’t believe that guys near the Truckee are still pounding the schools of frantic trout searching for deeper and cooler water but it’s pretty heartbreaking.
Broke away and got into some still water fish this last week with water temps down where trout can do life properly.
It’s going to be a long summer for fans of the Truckee River. I know there are many different kinds of fishermen, but leaving them alone right now will help of us enjoy this sport in the future, not to mention the ecosystem of the treasure that is the Truckee River.
Do your part. Leave the trout alone. Grab some trash in the riverbed that wouldn’t normally be accessible. She’ll be back.
